My current motor

Hey everyone, I've been a longtime lurker to this forum

Anyway at the moment I run a 2001Y 156 2.0TS Veloce which I've had for four troublefree years. I love the car but I'm heading toward 60,000 miles and I fancy a change to a 147 as I've always fancied one.

My questions are:-

Will I save much in petrol costs by opting for a 1.6 petrol 147 over my current 2.0 156?

Is the 1.6 147 still susceptible to cambelt changes?

Is there anything I should be looking for when looking at a used 147 - suspension noises, engine rattles etc?

Hello and welcome to AO:)

The timing belt change on the 1.6TS is the same as the 2.0TS, 36,000/3 years and also advisable to change the full kit, tensioners, variator and water pump at the same time. Regular oil level checks are a must.:)

Thanks for the replies people, seems everyone is running a faster car than mine

I'm tempted to get a 147 2.0 or multijet diesel instead now.

I think I'll be gutted going from 2.0 to a 1.6.

Going to trawl the forum now and seek more advice :)
