Hi Everyone

Can anybody recommend a additive (that work) that would help for noisy V6 tappets ?

Sorry mate but theres no cure :(

This was discussed on another thread and you can adjust 3 on each head and possibly re shim the other 3 but its a swine of a job

unless you want to replace them all with new ones

Btw you just gonna have to live with it like the rest of us  as we rattle along the highways

Least it`ll make Tractorboy feel at home

spread to the tech room now has it???

Hello again SFV, yes i'm afraid theres
not much you can do about the tappets,
other than getting them reset, and then
its probably best letting a specialist
do it.

You could try Xtra Lube ZX1 oil additive, its supposed to help with noisy vauxhall engines.
Ive been running it in my engines for the last few yers with no problems. If it doesn't cure the noisy tappet problem at least the engine will run much more smoothly!
(Que the "Oh my god never add anything to your engine oil comments". :p )

adative is a pointless waste of time.it only works with hydralic tappets, the only cure is to have them done which means removing the cams.

Thanks for the info. Soon we will have the winter back and then I won't have to drive with the windows open. Luckily I can enjoy the engine note from inside the car without the noisy tappets !
