My 2002 156 2.4JTD Sportwagon is now at 140k miles.

At about 100k I had complete new front suspension with std arms and Koni FSDs all round. New springs on the back 'cos the Novamat ones would not fit. I also had PU bushes in the rear suspenders.

Now, when I leave for work in the morning on our lousy, lumpy, bumpy village roads I get quite a lot of knocking noises as if the suspension bushes are kn****ered. It's a 32 mile trip each way.

When I come home in the evening, having travelled 32 mile and go over our bumpy village road again, there is no more noise that I would normally expect.

I have been under the car at the back and O.S.F and can find no play in anything. Hence I'm wondering if it is anything to do with the internals of the Koni's. i.e. when they are cold something is knocking. When they have warmed up and the gas expanded (presumably) it is all tight again.

Any experience in this way, anyone??
