Hi

Before I rush off to finally get the awful rattle fixed by my local AR dealer when the cam belt is changed, I thought I better check what experience anyone else may have had with the Gadget that controls the variable valve timing

Hi, welcome to AO - sounds like you need a new variator :)

When you start the car does it sound like a diesel? That'll be a knackered variator then.

It can't really do any harm but get it replaced if you're having the belts and tensioners done anyway.

It should cost about another £100.

And restore the performance which has like as not deteriorated.
Does it go away after a few seconds running, worse irst thing in the morning or when cold?

The car is booked in Wednesday 21 Feb. Will let you know how I get on.
