Greetings Alfa aficionado's,

its been a long cold winter here in Canada and hopefully its all over for the next few
months.
I've taken out the Spider a couple of times already and I sure missed driving it
around town.

Question:
I'm thinking of upgrading my wheels from current 16's to 17 or possible 18's,

I don't know much about moving up a size and what needs to be done,
does anyone know if it is possible to go to 18's or should I go to 17's

any wheel advice including any good sets that might be for sale is greatly appreciated,
I have a Red (with Tan interior) 1997 Spider, I'm thinking of Black wheels
Cheers

Ah Weather - our favourite topic. I'm lead to believe that you part of the world has very distinct season. V cold in winter but hot in summer - unlike here where it's bloody miserable all year round .

17" teledials seem to be the wheel of choice over here - mostly on GTvs but also some on spiders.
They are 'relatively' cheap compared to some others and since they have the correct off-set (from the hub mounting face) no beggering about with spacers etc..

Another option would be to trawl ebay with teh PCD and centre diameter spec see what comes up and then post on here - someone will be sure to advise..

Enjoy your open top motoring !

Regards

On a spider go for the 17" or if you can find them 18" Zender Sienna's they look  you should get your speedometer re-calibrated for the larger rolling radius of the bigger wheels, but most people don't bother.

Hello,
Just a word of advice, if you're going to fit 17s don't go for the usual 225/45/R17 tire, as your car is the same as mine (ph1) the front tires will rub slightly on the plastic inner arch only on full lock. I'm recommending 215/45/R17.
You can see from my signature 17s look
BTW my Spider is lowered by 20mm.

If you want to keep some comfort 17inch is adviced, if you go for the looks definetely 18inch. But then you would want to lower a bit as well... Some even go for 19inch! It is a matter of taste, but I always found 19inch too big for the 916 model, it just does not go with the design in my view.
