Thanks for those posts. They really do look identical, don't they. This is a direct mechanical part, so if the studs have the correct spacing, any servo will create the necessary pressure, will it not?

Anyway, the seller of the much deeper bodied servo that I posted a pic of is a breaker and says that it was removed from a GTV, but a 2.0 Litre turbo, (GTV C2A) like mine. Perhaps the turbo and the twinspark have different boosters? While prowling, I discovered a 155 servo that looks just like the one I put the pics of: The first one is from a 155, the second from the GTV Turbo (according to the seller).

Its possible then that LHD cars had a different servo to RHD cars? FIAT ePER :: The FIAT Forum is good, but can be a bit vague, if you choose LHD it only shows 1 part for the servo (for TS & V6TB), if you choose RHD there are 2 part numbers,, one is GD and one is GS.
You should be able to see most of the unit from the engine bay, so have a look :)

Yeah, I had a good look at it today, it doesn't look too daunting. It is the thicker booster as per the one that I found for sale, so I think I'll pick up that part and crack at it next week.

The reason that I asked about wether the 155 and GTV parts were interchangable is because the 155 booster is ¥4000, and the GTV one is ¥17,800, which seems pretty steep for a used part that might pack up a couple of weeks down the road. Oh, well, I'll use the correct part this time and count my blessings. I'm sure if I brought this to an import specialist in this country, I'd be into the repair for ¥150,000 or more with new parts...

Hey guys, I’m guts deep into this myself and it’s been very challenging. Managed to strip the inside so I have access to the servo which is still attached bulkhead side to the pipe work. Any tips on taking the top manifold off? It’s Ally top.
Putting it back together will be fun! I like taking things apart!
Do not attempt to do this if you wont...
1) enjoy banging your head several times
2) lacerating your hands
3) have no patience
4) are as mad as a box of frogs
5) don’t have time on your hands
6) take a few pics to remind you of how it used to look

thanks guys

To take the manifold off you need to first bend part of the bracket that gets the the way of one of the bolts. This seems to only have the function of getting in the way. Thanks Alfa :)

Then you need a load of ratchet extensions, I think I needed 2 long ones and a short one!

Its a long time ago I did this, still have the mental and physical scars ;)

Yes, remove part of the exhaust, then there are 4 bolts holding the plenum in, two attached to the central bracket at one at each end.

Hi Ian, I have finally got the two central nuts out with a combination of different length and width bars along with bending that stupid bar (why!) bit for the life of me can’t see the end ones...
Can you recall?

Pfftt I'm sure there was one at each end of the plenum, its possible they are accessible from the top rather than underneath. Tried finding a picture of a cf1 engine to jog my memory, but no luck...

Ok. So as much as spending hours bending that bar thing, removing the two nuts and air intake etc, I managed to separate the brake master from the servo in situ so all that effort was in vain....
What is worrying for me is that I cracked open the servo and found no obvious signs of issues! I was getting a large hiss and drop of revs etc.
Now the plan is to try and put the thing back with the master all ready in place.
Another day, another challenge
Thanks for your help.
If it goes back together and I still have the same issues I’m afraid I will have to break it which is what I have tried to avoid at all costs as this is a great genuine, honest example
