I’ve had this car for a couple of mouths now and it’s great. I have a company car and use the GTV for weekends mainly. The only thing is that it appears to lack power at low revs. Can anyone let me know if this is normal as I have not driven another GTV before?

I though there might be something wrong as coming out of roadwork restrictions on a motorway at 50 in 3rd gear and I was out accelerated by a standard looking focus 1.6 or 1.8 to 70. Not that I go around racing the car about or anything but I it just seems slower than I expected it to be and I’m sure my other car which is a 115bhp turbo diesel pulls much better at lower revs.

Any comments would be appreciated

Thanks

Well you need to check:
MAF
Lambda sensor(s)
ECU/throttle body reset.
However the V6 is a revver, not a plodder like say a BMW straight 6.
Its designed to and should have, the pants thrashed off it. Its the COMPLETE opposite to any diesel where you have low down torque.

As one alfa site's motto reads -"The Fun Starts at 3500 rpm".....

It doesn't lack power at low revs, it just has more power higher up the rev band so it sounds like you have problem (were you in 6th instead of 3rd?) :) .

MAF is a likey candidate as it can cause power loss/flat spots in the rev band. Do a search for lots of threads on this subject as it is a common problem. Lamda sensor failure is a much less common occurance.
