I am new to this forum. Currently driving a chrysler crossfire that will need to be replaced. (lease is up soon). was going to the nisssan garage to look at the 2006 350z and fortunatlly the Alpha garage was befor the Nissan. There they where two Breras' One a 2.2 the other 3.2jts v6 q4. The problems is I never owned a alpha. Owned a 330ci sport bmw, mx5, 328 bmw, a 206 gt. And a few others. The 2.4 JTDm looks intresting can any one give a run down on how the disel perfoprms and has alfa steped up the reliabilitie issues???

First lesson is know your prey...ALFA ;)

Tell me about the Crossfire...was it any good?

Secondy, the 2.4 is excellent and yes, Alfa have improved their reliablity.....just as Mercedes have lost the plot with theirs ;)

Crossfire is a good car. Reliability is good, performance ok, styling is a real head turner even after 2 years ownership. Chrysler is the biggest problem. Got the price wrong at the start. It should have been priced at £25k, no promotion of the product, and a dealer net work who like to rip you off when you take the car for a service at a cost of £409.00 for s sch 2. Last time I was at the dealer they had a silver saph auto tran at a dealer special of £20k.. Thank god I leased.

I take it alfa's still to date have the reliablity issues?

Yes I believe so... I've put 16,800 very fast klms on the clock and so far my only problem has been with a downshift selespeed paddle switch. Both up & down switches were replaced under warranty with improved items, and since then I've had no further problems :)

Welcome to the forum. I have had two old alfas in the past and had no problems. My current GTA gets a regular thrashing, as it would be rude not to. And has been brilliant. Only problem was a dodgy trip computer and the air bag light came on, both sorted without fuss by the local dealer.

I don't know what others think but I suspect the brera will hold it's value like the GT has, rather than lose a huuuuuuuge chunk in the first couple of years like the 156 did. Which itself shows that alfa is gaining a better reputation.

Hi and welcome.

As a Crossfire driver you at least mark yourself out as being prepared to be a bit non-conformist. Ideal Alfisti material! :D

The Crossfire doesn't have the best rep for dynamics so you should be pleasantly surprised with a good-spec Alfa. The Brera is a stunner too. Also, it is fair to say Alfa dealers are probably no better than Chrysler's as I have heard similar from mates with experiences like yours.

Think about what you (probably) hated about BMW 330 ownership (great but a bit common?) and like about the Crossfire (unusual but maybe a bit too ordinary at the helm?) and you may find an Alfa is right up your street.

Oh BTW - a sure fire way to upset Alfisti is to mis-spell the name!;) It is not part of the Greek alphabet.:D

Welcome to AO.

I have just covered 10k in my 166 and have absolutely no problems to report.

The Dealer network is a little pricey, however there are specialists to found all over, and I'm sure someone here can point you in the right direction.

Thanks guys. Sorry about the misspel of ALFA, wont happen again. All I have done is look, look and look again at the sales material. Got a payoff on the crossfire and I am trying to get a hold of friend who is high up in the PARKS motor group about a non-commit test drive. The have a v6 jts q4 su as a demo.

Before you make your final decision do make sure that you test drive a petrol V6 example.... the noise and power delivery defines the mystique of Alfa Romeo ;)
