After having my Ti for a few weeks now i thought i'd better take a look at the tyre pressures.

The book says 2.7/2.5 so for my that's roughly 40 / 37 in real money.

I checked and found all 4 were under the 30 mark so a black mark for my dealer ! - taken then up to the correct levels so will see how the drive changes and whether my shocking mpg improves :)

Check yours as it's not worth expecting the dealer to have set them up correctly

I'll check mine shortly - what do you mean by shocking MPG?... trip up from the dealer by the driver that delivered mine averaged about 35MPG, which I think is pretty bad for motorway driving and a diesel, but then again I didn't buy the Ti for its frugality!

Once on a new demonstrator i wondered why i was getting "bump steer" on high speed corner's with a brand new 156, 48 psi al round, obviously not checked and dropped at the PDI. :tut:

Averaging 27Mpg which is pretty bad in anyone's book - this is on the more economical diesel varient as well !

Still great car and as stated was'nt purchased for economy although it'd be nice to get somewhere near the claimed figs.

Will definitely check mine tomorrow. Thanks for the tip, Wouldn't expect that to happen on a new car. Meridian phoned this afternoon to say thanks again for the sale, and how was it?

Utterly excellent. How I wish they were local.

I'd asked about tracking during the wait (9 days only) and pointed them to the major thread on here, which they were aware of. He had it checked by a specialist (had the report) and on collection said it was "spot on". I should have asked more, but I was being a kid and just wanted to drive it! He said "they do scrub a bit, that's how they are".

Did 31.4 on 140 mile journey back from dealer, but that dropped to 28.9 on my commute today. 13 mile motorway, and the same again up very twisty lanes.

It's so tempting to floor it to hear that sound! What an amazing diesel!

I'm doing a 110 mile round trip commute tomorrow, will check pressures before and let you know what MPG I get
Quoted figures are:
1.9 JTDm
Urban - 35.8
Combined - 47.9
ExtraUrban - 59.9
2.4 JTDm
Urban - 30.7
Combined - 41.5
ExtraUrban - 52.3

Alfa's idea of humour clearly :cheese:

WHAT a difference, the car is transformed, it handled well before but now feels on rails, admittedly the ride is harder but well worth it for the improved driving characteristics.

Check them tyres and start getting the most out of the car ! - even economy is creeping up already.

OK back from a 100 mile round trip and these are the stats from a reset Trip B on the dash
Driving time (total) 3 hrs 10 mins
Average Speed: 31 mph
Average MPG: 41.7

Forgot to check pressures but will later/tomorrow.
Wasn't driving like a granny, although wasn't hammering it either. Think thats not bad - I went the wrong way home when the trip computer was showing 43mpg

Not bad I think :)

Yup, agree still nowhere like the claimed figures. What fuel do you use? I was on Tesco stuff, but there are some posts about VPower diesel making a difference...

Maybe its time for chip fat, I mean the car is 4 days old

My 08 159 SW JTDm has improved with mileage and now averages 42.8 but thats a lot of 80/85 mph motorway running

I have got 39psi all round, but someone mentioned earlier 39 front 36 rear, is this correct?

Might explain why I think the car has a lot of tyre noise (Bridgestones) from the back

Not that useful, neither of my cars come up on that...

I know what the pressures are though. But if I didn't, they are in the manual and also on a sticker on the car (I think) inside the fuel filler flap. (can't be arsed to look now though...)
