New Maserati GT

You have probably seen before chops or read rumours over the net about the future Maser coupe, based on the shortened chasis of the Quatraporte. It's not supposed to be in the same class of performances with the 612 Scaglietti, but it will have a roomier interior, beind able to seat 4 in comfort.

Here is a collection of chops.

Re: New Maserati GT

Thanks Marius, this should be the real "killer ap" for Maserati, given it plugs the gap between the sporty coupe/spyder and the opulent Quattroporte.

Should give the Conti GT a run for its money :D

Re: New Maserati GT

what a great looking car, even better looking than the quattroporte, shame about the rear lights which look as though they nicked them from the Kia parts bin at the same time as BMW nicked the ones for the 3 series

Oooooh, lovely. The GT with a drop top is almost perfect, not sure about those rear lights though. I think the current model GT with a drop top would be perfect and i'd sell my mum and dad for one.

:D

Well, we'll have to wait and see if they'll build them ;)

Re: New Maserati GT

Interesting article on Maserati new car line-up:

"One model, the replacement for the current GT/Gran Sport coupe, is baded on the Quattroporte sedan, taking a 2+2 form. Styling is expected to draw heavily on its four-door counterpart's, but with a more aggressive front end.

A new Spyder convertible model, targeting the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class will likely share many aspects with the above-mentioned coupe. It's expected to ditch the rear seats to make room for the folding roof, which likely won't be a retractable metal hardtop but a conventional cloth roof.

The surprise comes in the form of a proper four-seater convertible, complete with retratable hard-top. Judging from the heavy disguising of test mules caught so far, it will probably come after the GT and Spyder models, but we bet it'll be worth the wait."

I love the Massers, but is it just me or do they all suffer from some form of identity crisis? You sort of expect them to be more sporty then they are, which then becomes a let down and loss of prestige and repect.

My own comparison to Massers is that they are "an italian Jaguar" But Jaguar seem to be able to have a much more clear image and get away with making cars much like massers, but still prestigeous and repected.

Fierce looking machine but is not to sharp and edgy for a Maserati? Those lights seem robbed off an Elise anyway...

...Even more!

Soon you will be able to go to the local Skoda garage...and they'll say sir sorry there is no discount on a new Octavia estate but we can throw in a nice 6 year old Maserati for free instead...

Do I detect a slight bitterness on this post ... ;)

I think Maserati has seen the worst of depreciation and the new models will hold up value much more.

Why do I say so? Just a hunch.

Re: New Maserati GT

Nice pics, I love Masers and these new models will keep me drooling as much as the old'uns have.

I get the feeling there's a bit of conflict in the design from the front to the back, they just don't look like they go together, the front is beautifully smooth and clean, while the back end looks way too heavy and characterless. Maybe they could borrow Alfa's design team to doodle up a pert rear-end for it?

Me...bitter...no ;)

I think you are probably right though - Maserati were going in the right direction with the Quattroporte, with stronger residuals. I agree with your hunch...but I won't be ordering a new one!

Re: New Maserati GT

Hi all

I love the look of that coupe, as for the rear lights i quite like them! I love the way the rear arch is incoporated into the side skirts, very DTM. I would love a Maserati, only problem i would have if i had that sort of money would be Aston Martin!!! Nothing beats an Aston.

If you were watching in the new Bond film, for those who have seen it, Masers coupes/spyders were everywhere you looked.

That is the Masers I.D. problem, its not a Ferrari but nor can it cut it for current image against Bentley or Aston for GT status. I think they are slowly getting there though, as the Casino Royale shows!
