Hi, I need to get some new locks on my 1999 2.0L GTV. I was going to get a complete set of matching keys, locks and immobiliser/transponder unit but, will this work with my existing car's ECU or do I need the matching one as well?

I know this subject has been touched on in other threads but it wasn't clear to me what the answer is!

You buy a lock set and re programme your new key to ecu code of the old key

Or change the chip over in the key.

No to change the code box or ECU that way.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the car but it has different door and ignition locks to airbag and glovebox but as it was a bargain I'm not too worried.

I think one of the previous owners must have had a need to change locks and neglected the glovebox and airbag (??!) Otherwise a straight car.
