If you stay with silver then you should paint the fastening clips black or else ypu might see them when placed. Also, i never considered that you would have a big hole in the mesh but of course you need that to get the bonnet open. Hmmmmm that does quite some dramatic thing for the overall look, me thinks...

Yeah, I kinda didn't realise the lever hole would be as prominent.

Having said that, once the badge wings are back on the bonnet and the bonnet is fully closed, it's actually not nearly as noticeable. In these pics, the bonnet is only partially closed and the wings are drying elsewhere.

I am very pleased with how this has gone and I much prefer this look to the factory scudetto.

All it needs now is a light sand and a final clear coat, and I have some adhesive body trim in black on its way to trim where the V sits against the mesh.

Idea.....

You could mitigate the need for the hole in the grill if you managed to hinge the grill on one side. A flush hinge and a latching clip on the other side would allow you to secure it and open it to open the bonnet.

Just a random thought.

I didn't like that I had to cut the mesh for the lever release but, I actually like it now.

Like my missing driver side fog light (for cold air induction to air box), it kinda gives a subtle nod to the "tuner" in me.

So good design was never a target

It was a starting point to improve things and add my own touch of individuality at the same time.

I love many of Alfa's design traits but I'm not fixated to believing it's the pinnacle of design like some people obviously do.

Some older Alfisti have actually given the nod to what I am doing. It's a shame others remain closed minded.

Think it's looking good you could probably tweak a few of your steps to improve the finish-but things are always easier with hindsight.
I always like to have a part to work on/develop to help in getting to my desired end goal.
I was thinking you could probably insert some small threaded taps in to the resin filler you have in the hollow part of the grille from the back you could use some small black washers and bolts to bolt the mesh in from the back-save you cutting in the nice lines of the 'v'.
This is how Alfa attach the grille mesh on the Brera-its pretty easy to take off the front -15-20 mins.
It will look great with a few tweaks.

Some final pics of the finished product after applying the auto-trim that arrived in the mail today;

And I also added a boot lip by Fyralip, and a Simoni stubby antenna.

New straight flow back boxes are next. The local specialist is talking up Magnaflow boxes in stainless and I've picked out some very nice 3" double-wall stainless tips.

Thank you kind sir.

I do have one regret, and that's that the silver paint actually lost some of its lustre when I clear coated it. It's all matched PPG product but it doesn't quite have the pearly finish like the mirrors and wheels do and like it did before I applied the protecting clear over. It definitely still has a metallic look and I'm just happy it's finished so I'm not going to keep faffing with it anymore.

It just looks damaged to me with that big gaping hole in it.
Far from my cup of tea, but nice try.

I really like the end result. The hole is the only thing that would bother me. There are ways around it i suppose but then you would have to redo it with a new piece of mesh. But still, really nice and also you now have a unique nose ;).

Thanks mate.
I was just out in the garage restyling some jewellery and happened to catch a look at the front of the car again.
Yeah, I really like how it's turned out. And I actually don't mind the lever opening in the mesh at all. I thought it would bother me but, it doesn't one bit.

Grill looks great, could you please do more full car photos to get better idea?
Does the hole for bonnet lever has to be this huge? The lever is just a thin plastic stick, why this huge hole?

The shape of the actually makes sense if you look closely. You would have to fabricate a way to push the lever from the side vents (where the chrome wings are). Then the mesh could stay intact.
