Thanks Ian, would the fault show up, on a Diag. test ???? and would it cause the engine management light to flash red, sometimes intermittently, if I run at high revs.

Hmmm...a semi-faulty coil pack will show up on the dealer's/indy's Examiner software (charge time or something similar being out of whack). AlfaDiag doesn't measure this though.

Usual symptoms are a misfire after the engine warms up, or until it warms up in some cases.

A misfire will be logged in the ECU as a fault, and which cylinder is misfiring as well (which is handy). Not sure if it would bring on the ecu light, but I guess it could.

In most cases, it's much more economical to read the fault code (either at a garage or yourself) and fix that, than to replace parts by guesswork.
