A local dealer offered me a Sachs clutxch kit for 195 euro including taxes. The friction plate seperate comes to 125 euro. good value? Bearing in mind sachs is more expensive then Valeo (by about 20%)

I seem to think that Valeo were original equipment on Alfas, the Valeo unit should be brand new. I personally wouldn't have any worries about fitting a Valeo unit. ( I used to work for a major clutch manufacturer!)

Yep.. a clutch will last more than 50,000 miles so you probably won't still have the car when it pegs out, if you do average miles.
