Hi everyone. I am about to become the proud owner of a Prodrive Brera 2.2 JTS 58 plate. For purely aesthetic reasons I have been considering upgrading the front discs to grooved and/or drilled ones. The garage I am getting the car from has recommended Tarox front discs and pads and have given me an excellent price of £300 fitted. Are these worth the upgrade, I have heard good things but also talk of noisy brakes when cold as they are performance based.

Have any of you gone with Tarox discs; are they as good as the garage says?

Thanks, Alex

Congrats on your choice of car. I wouldn't bother with the disc's, but alot of people do upgrade the pad's to 'performance friction' Z rated. I think Alfa Specialist's will do this with high spec brake fluid for £255 fitted. I know you are bothered about aesthetics, but the standard disc's are good.
Good luck with the car.

Does the 2.2 S stil have 305 discs or did they ut the bigger 330 setup on them? Either way i wouldnt bother upgrading, cross drilled can cause issues of their own with cracks forming.

I had tarox sj 2000 grooved discs and fast road pads on my old twinspark 147 and they were very good but could be noisy making a thrumming noise audibly when breaking hard from speed.

Probably purely aesthetic, nothng wrong with the 305s in my opinion, they stop the car well, can be squeaky though when braking gently :(
It doesn't get the vented big rear disks like the V6 & smoker do;)
