Hopefully this hasn't been posted before? Found an interesting article in auto express:

Five new Alfa Romeos on way | News | Auto Express

Ive seee other reports that claim the SUV has been scrapped (lets hope so :)) in favour of the 169 based on the 300C with pentastar V6.

Lastly - 300BHP from a 1.8 Turbo - that will be one stressed engine

Pentastar is actually supposed to be a very good engine. (Even the new 300C had had decent reviews) Still curious on the 300BHP from 1.8 - seeing as BMWs latest offering tops out at 245 from 2.0 i find it quite hard to believe?

Oh ye of little faith. Getting big power from small capacity engines is what defined AR in the 60's and 70's. It's the thing that the marque should be able to do and should be leading on. So I'm glad to see it. We're seeing 230HP from the current 1750 engine which is early in its development cycle so I can believe 300HP is on the cards.

Didnt say it couldnt be done, its just at what price? Ive had mates with Mitsubishi FQ330's and they needed to service them every five minutes to prevent the engine/turbo blowing. Maybe the new advanced all aluminium engine contruction and all the fancy timings tricks have moved the game on but it still sound slike a lot from very little?

The 1.4 multiair is producing 170bhp in Mito and Guiletta, Monza sport have this for sale:

Alfa Romeo  MiTo MST 215bhp Cloverleaf from MONZA SPORTS TUNING · Approved Alfa Romeo Specialists

215 BHP from 1.4 !!

So a mere 300bhp from 1.8 should be easy!
