Hi! :)

I've just been logged on for about 3 minutes now, and allready I need some help.... ( just so you know we have'nt got the best english-teachers here in Norway, so excuse me for not formulating and writing so well :) )

I want to boost the pressure on the turbo in my car (147 1.9JTD 8v 115ps) and right now my I can't afford a Chip or a Remap as the norwegean prices is high. I heard from a friend that I could manually adjust the pressure on the wastegate, but he recommended that I would not do anything before I had mounted a gauge (bar boost).

1. I cant locate the right vacume-hose to use for the gauge...

2. What is my current bar boost in the car? (I currently have a cheap kind of chip, giving higher pressure to the "injectors" for more diesel. This is not affecting the bar boost I've been told.)

3. What is the maximum pressure of bar boost my car can handle? I've done some mods like full Supersprint racing exhaust (just free flow to the back box), Green-filter and the chip. (if this can help)

4. my last question :) how many horsepower can I gain with a "bar boost" boost?? :)

Im kind of a rookie in car performance, but have my stronger side within car stereo

Pleace :)

If any has some information that can help me I would be very grateful:) Ecpescially the question about the right vacume hose. I tried to use the blue siliconehose from the bottom of the wastegate, but the mesures on the gauge shows some strange things.

When I start the car its stable at -0,8 bars, and when I'm driving with max throttle, it shows -0,6 at 2500rpm, -0,4 at 3500rpm and maximum -0,2 at about 4500rpm.....

Is this normal?? Did I use the wrong hose??

Tnx in advance fellow Alfa-owners :)

My advice is leave alone, get saving and get a remap done. It isnt worth buggering it up as could cost you loads more if you fcuk it up:D

+1 to Jim ... if you're not sure what you're doing then you could easily blow up your engine, adjusting the boost without changing the other parameters would probably not do anything anyway ... over here a remap is about £300+VAT ... I don't know how much it is over your way but would be worth saving up ... or organising a driving holiday to the UK

Tnx for the tips :) maby I'll take the boat over to the UK next summer... in Norway this kind of remap will cost about 7500 NOK, (600-650 british pounds)

Tuning is not cheap in Norway!!! :)

Thanks for all answers!! :D but I think some misunderstood the first question (should have taken it one by one) :)

The thing I was really interessted in is to locate the right place to insert the vacume hose from the gauge so I can see what boost the turbo gives :)

I heard from a local Alfa "specialist" that I have to make a hole in the massive black hose (that starts from the intake and goes to the top of the intercooler) and put the little vacume hose in there....

Is this correct??

Tnx again fellow alfetta heads :p

Nothing in Norway is cheap ! Anybody here know if the box sold by Autolusso is any good to this ex viking ?
You can say that again!! Do you know how much my car costs here in the land of vikings and fjords??

A little guessing-round here to see if you're updated in the Norwegean market ( like anyone cares what's going on here :p ).......

2002 mod, 1,9JTD 115ps, grey interior (fabric, not leather), standard 8 speaker system (not bose) eibach spring system (lowered 30mm), standard 16 inch aluminium-wheels. with 115.000 km covered I did a bargain on this car :D but how much do you think it would cost?? (in british pounds:p )

Tnx for the link 156Chris :)

it's fcuk'ing 2 british pounds for 1,5 liters of Coke in the local supermarket!!!! unbelieveable!!

But the price on my car is even worse.... I payed about £13.000 for the car plus £500 in registration.. and thats not all... in Norway, the insuranse on a 147JTD 115ps, for an average 21 year-old guy, is £3000 per year!!!!!
