Hi guys,

Came home from work the other day and noticed a long line of oil down the driveway and following my path out to the road.

Brought it the garage and they have told me that the oil cooler pipes x 2 , large and smaller as well as the oil cooler itself have seen the end of their days. They are struggling to find replacement parts here in Ireland and quoting me over 1000 Euro , to be honest without labour thats an expensive repair but I want to try everything I can to save here.

Can anybody point me in the right direction of a specialist where I might find these parts a little cheaper?

Also , stupid question probably but the mechanic was confusing me , is the oil cooler radiator and the main radiator differant parts?

I only know about the 3.0....not sure if the 2.5 is the same....I think some 2.5 engines had a heat exchanger cooler on the back near the oilfilter....however the 3.0 has a cooler radiator mounted in front of the aircon rad, with pipes that take the oil from the back of the engine right to the front. These pipes are prone to rusting through...they also weld themselves inside the oil cooler....

Not sure what your set-up is. If it is like the 3.0 then the parts are obsolete/difficult to find s/h....Poland Italy or Germany your best bet for s/h as all the British Isles examples get salted to death.

allegro.pl is a good site if you can find a Polish speaker over there in RoI to help you. I got some decent s/h pipes from Poland on there.
Auto lusso do a conversion kit for the 3.0GTV....but the cooler would need to be mounted somewhere else as the GTV set up is different to the 166.

If it is like the 2.5 156 then maybe you can get a s/h prt from any 2.5 156 or 166....

I just had a look on the autolusso site might give them a call in the morning and see if anything can be done. Not sure if the Oil cooler set up is the same in the 3 liter and 2.5 liter , be great is someone could clarify that...

I'm pretty sure the 2.5 v6 156 and 166 are the same engine , only differances being in the Cf1 - Cf3 models. Mine is a Cf3 if that's any help.

as I said, not sure what set up the 2.5 has in the 166.....
