Hi All,

New to Alfa Romeo, have just bought the wife a Mito 1.4TB Veloce (155), in Alfa Red. She has always been into quirky cars loved Renault 5s and has had a VW Beetle for the last 5 years. I used to have a Ford Puma 1.7 (great car, lots of fun and bullet proof). The missus decided that she wanted more of a driving experience (pumaesque) but allowed her to express her individuality - I know, there was always only one car on the market for her! She initially test drove a Mini Cooper however was underwhelmed after all the good press that it had received and became increasingly aware of how many there are on the road.

The Alfa we chose was an '09 with 14k on the clock advertised at £9,495 and from an ALfa franchise. We test drove the car, the sales person gave us a good 30 minute run on a mixture of roads. The car seemed fine: tight steering, no moans, groans, crunches or creeks other than a small squeek I noticed on the front brakes which I have asked the dealership to look at prior to picking up. I'm not a petrol head and my assessment is based on being a passionate follower of 'Wheeler Dealers' not on any practical experience or 'oily' qualifications. Paint work fine (1 small chip bottom of the front end) couldn't be bothered to sort as it barely noticeable, would likely be touched up and replaced with another tiny chip in the near future (rims scuff free).

Dealer would not take anything off the price and I am hopeless at negotiating, so the deal was pretty quickly done. Did find out later that the auto lights, wipers and dimming mirror was an optional extra - chuffed with that. The car also has the red brembos and tinted rear windows. I am looking forward to borrowing her car soon, I refused point blank to drive the Beetle and when it was necessary found having to remove the flower only heightened the awareness of being in a 'girly' motor. Not sure I will find it will be the case with the Mito.

Anyway, I (oops, SHE) has 12 months warranty so what should I be looking out for and checking out to make sure I haven't bought a dog and to ensure the following twelve months won't hide any mechanical and expensive nasties.

Hello and welcome to AO.
Very nice car the wifey got.
Definitely not a girlie car, but a car that goes well with girls.
Head to the Mito lounge, lots to read and lots of friendly advice.
Enjoy the Mito, both of you.
Cheers.
