Hello everyone,

So sad news, my 15 plate Alfa Red G was keyed down to its primer last night on the drivers door, drivers side passenger door, drivers side rear wheel arch and passengers side rear door. Each scratch is approximately 4-8 inches in length.

Any ideas on what i'm looking at with regards to a re spray if I take it to a body works company?

I'm devastated.

Cheers

It will cost a few hundred I reckon.make sure you shop around as there are some real rogues in the paint game I know that first hand..make sure whoever does the work is reputable as going for cheapo job will bite you in the arse.best to pay a bit more and make sure you get some sort of warranty on paintwork.
whoever did that to your car has hopefully since died a slow agonising death like the coward deserves...i mean what a sxxx thing to do to someone elses property, really annoys me

Cheers I will definitely be sure to shop around! What an absolute A-Hole, the fact that the person took the time to walk around my car and take out each panel is the worst part.
I'm thinking of investing in a dash cam with a parked mode built in!

I had my Lexus keyed a few years ago and felt physically sick when I saw it. Feel for you.

Is it metallic?

Absolute [email protected]@#s! Whats wrong with people?
I hate this, just because someone's worked hard and has something nice some jealous chav think they have the right!? :censored:

Have you got accidental damage on you're insurance? Maybe an option dependent on excess etc? If you go straight to body shop their going to want to spray whole panels I'd have thought so gonna cost!
Hope you get it sorted and maybe look at getting cctv? ...........Also a baseball bat!

Loved my 159 up until it got keyed and then somehow it wasn't so special anymore, sullied if you will.

I take delivery of my 65 plate GQV within a week or so and unfortunately we aren't in our new house (with drive) yet due to delays and I'm sh*tting myself about parking it on the road here, even just for a few weeks. We live close to Saffron Estate for anyone who knows Leicester; not good!

Feel for you mate.

Have you informed the police ? Is criminal damage covered on your insurance ?

Any repair/paint shop will want to respray each panel, probably at a cost of at least £200 per panel. I have an Alfa Red Giulietta, and it is a very difficult colour to match. I went to a "smart" repair outfit and the resprayed areas stood out like sore thumbs. I then had to go to a proper (reputable) body repair shop to have the whole panel resprayed to cover up their botched work. The body repair shop made a beautiful job of it and impossible to tell where the repair happened.

Just to be clear, with an Alfa Red Giulietta do not skimp on cost of respray, and get the professionals to do it. It might even be worth phoning your local Alfa Dealer for advice on who they use.

So sorry to here about your woes. If you live any where near Ipswich, I highly recommend MSO Paint Repair Specialists, phone 01473 741244

Thanks for all of your comments guys, I have reported it to the police and have a crime number but I fear that is where it ends unless I catch the pr*cks in the act! I'm taking it to a reputable body shop tomorrow to receive a quote and I will let you know how I get one!

Part of me is thinking why bother if it potentially going to happen again but I guess you can't live by that attitude, going to look into installing a dash cam which is activated by motion when the car is parked, hopefully revealing the 6 fingered freak if they were to try it again!

I will obviously only go down the insurance route if I'm quoted higher than my voluntary excess but I fear it will be and some!

I think I will be sleeping in the motor tonight, heated seats on haha

Hopefully it was a randomer, who won't occasion by again, and not a local.

It would be good to see 10 or 20 Alfa's turn up if he did, and run the fecker over!

Horrible thing to happen..... I have a friend with an excellent body shop in Norwich. Very skilled people, they even have rolling wheels for making panels occasionally. If you're nearby let me know and I can put you on to him.

Sadly the police probably don't have the resources to pursue vandalism so you should take matters into your own hands. Rather than fit a DVR, why not mount a camera with PIR somewhere to monitor the car.

Sorry Man, know the feeling my 'G' had also been scratched, cost £300.00 for respray on rear driver door, Back boot, and also had bit of back bumper resprayed which was already scratched when bought car. Netley Accident Repairs carried out the respray and to be honest wish i had not bothered. They broke glove box, small burn in seat, scratch on side of front bumper, not overly happy with quality of work either.

Thats not a bad price for painting all those panels...

however i would have gone through my insurance... as this covers malicious or accidental damage.

awful news mate :furious:

Im nervous too at the minute because Im having to park mine on the street due to building works going on at my house. Twice Ive been targeted in the past, first time round they took an axe to the rear door! Seriously thinking about investing these outdoor security cameras.

I can recommend a good spot if you are in the Lancaster/Morecambe area

Hope you get something sorted and it goes easy on the wallet

Mike
