Hello everyone,

My name is Michael Woolford and although only at the age of 20, I have a great love for Alfa Romeo. I have to confess, I do not or have not yet owned an Alfa. However, it is a goal of mine to own one within the next year or so. I currently drive a Vauxhall Corsa Sxi 1.4 which is my first car and has been very kind to me in the 2 years I've owned her (currently a set of front tyres, two headlight bulbs and a battery!). My interest in Alfas started when I was much younger as my dad used to own a P reg 155 2.0 Twin Spark although I now believe this car is no longer on the road:depressed:

I would not say my dad was an Alfa enthusiast in any capacity, as when I bought up the topic of purchasing one, he remarked about the stereotypical unreliable and rusty Italian motor which would be a waste of my money and a money pit. As you can imagine, I was not amused and simply decided not to listen to any more of what he had to say:lol:

I would absolutely love to own a 147 gta at some point, although I understand prices are starting to rise and finding a good one is becoming increasingly difficult. As for a future project; to be able to find a 155 v6 in a reasonable condition that could be bought back to life and become something to be proud of would be perfect in my eyes as one day I'd love to turn up at my parents house, give the throttle a few blips and get out to see the look on my dad's face!

I've no idea what Alfa enthusiasts think of someone so young taking such an interest in the busso engine and saving everything to be able to get their hands on a good example; even more so if someone my age turned up to view one for sale.

I know I have a mortgage to save for but I'm in the railway industry as a track design engineer and have good prospects going forward and my earnings are much more than most people my age who are still at university and not yet in work (my uni course is part of my job).

In a few months I will be 21 and insurance premiums for something like a 147 gta come down considerably to a level that I would consider reasonable and still cheaper than what some people my age pay for a first car.

Things look promising for getting my first Alfa within the next year or two if I can find something in good condition (I just need to convince the person selling to let me have it when the time comes!).

From what I've seen on the forum already, this seems like a very friendly and helpful community and I look forward to becoming a part and learning what I can.

Michael
