A sad day, some turd has run into my 147 in a car park, looks like they have turned there front tyre into my door while parking, lots of black tyre marks, a few scratches to the door and a dent and a few scratches to the rear quarter just past the door, no cameras and with only 1 years no claims dont fancy claiming on the insurance, question is if I get the dents repaired how easy is it to do the paint, its in alfa red and is not metallic, will the whole door and rear quarter have to be painted or can they paint the damaged area only and blend in, have already thought of buying a red door off ebay when 1 comes up but cant do that with the rear... Any suggestions plus anyone know a good body shop near hull, east yorkshire. cheers..

Probably whole panel areas, for best effect. Get a few quotations, ask around, have a look at the stuff that has been/is being repaired.Might find these new local on the spot people could tackle it. Smart Repairs, Dents Away, and so on, depends on the extent of the repairs required,

immobliser fault

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hello guys i am a proud (i think) new owner of a alfa romeo 147
that i bought from salvage today

the only main problem that i have at the moment is that there is a immobliser fault and the engine does not start. the guy that i bought the car from says that the car way driven into the yard he says the only problem that he thinks it could be is that the battery has gone flat and is causing this problem.
is there anyone with suggestion for me of over coming this problem
you can e-mail me at [email protected]
thanks

That's a PITA Dave, some people have no backbone and don't take responsibility for there actions.

It depends on the extent of the damage but I had good results from one of these "dents away", "dent devils" type services. They took out a supermarket trolley style ding out of the door of one of my old cars. I think it cost £35ish and you couldn't tell it had been there even looking at the light reflections.

Young Boi. you might want to start a new thread of your own to get the attention of the people with knowledge of the immobiliser setup.

Sorry to hear about that, Dave :(

There definitely seems to be a rash of hit & run incidents in car parks - I had mine hit in Sainsburys last year

Hope you manage to get it all sorted ok.

Bad luck Dave.

I live in Hull (well Hessle actually) and although I can`t particularly help you with a bodyshop, if you ever need to know where a good Alfa independant is in Hull try Mike Roberts on English Street.

Thanks you guys for all your comments, much appreciated.. after cleaning off all the tyre marks it's not so bad but still noticable, think I'm gonna get a few quotes and maybe contact one of the mobile services to see what they can do for me.. worse bit is where I think the alloy from the other car caught the rear quarter just on the fold where it wraps around the door pillar (just past the door).. I'll post a pic later today so you can see what I am trying to explain.

Chris, interesting to know that there is a specialist not far from me, I use Chris Cars down English street, not a specialist but a good mechanic..
