OK, we are all Alfa enthusiasts here. We can be frank. We make sacrifices to own our cars, knowing that there are cheaper, better made and better performing alternatives. Despite knowing this, there is something undefinable about Alfas that draws us rational adults back time after time.

But we are only talking about a car, however interesting and fun. Am I the only one who cringes when I hear people talking about "my Bella"?

I'd never dream of using such a term. It really gets my goat.

It does my head in a bit...

I'll refer to the car as 'she' or even 'he' etc, 'Once she's warmed up' etc etc etc....

But the Bella term does my nut in,

Yes it does, which is my point. If I had to say it at all it would be to describe my wife, not my car.

Nowt wrong with the phrase. Alfa's can be describes as beautiful, sexy and so on. They are not just cars, the live and have souls if you ask me. Same applies to most Italian cars too:)

I agree, I think it's just the specific word 'Bella' that I don't get on with, I don't like it as a word for whatever reason,

I don't think it just applies to Italian cars either though, I believe that every single car out there should be respected and thought of as a member of its very own family. I think that's just me being mental though,

Heap of ****ing **** normally.

Very true though I haven't had to call my Alfa that and to be honest don't know if I could

My favourite for a car I had that caused me a load of problems was
That ****ing thing that needs more than petrol. A match as well

Was sick of it after problems one after another. Nothing majorly serious but one wee niggle after another. Just seemed to be always fixing it / spending money.

Not sure I would call my Alfa "Bella" though

I agree, I've only used the phrase about twice before on AO but reserve the right to do so again if i feel so inclined:D

'tis a bit corny, but honestly. On a bad day they wet the floor in the garage, chew up the tires and generally misbehave. Worse things we could relate them too

(I had ferrets once I did :))
