Hello all

Would anyone consider swapping their Brera 2.2 or 2.4 diesel ( must be red! ) for my 2001 3.2S Boxster in Lappis Blue and 58,000 miles with Porsche and Specialist history? I have advertised the Boxster at £7950. Prepared to pay cash along with my car. I already have an Alfa 156 so please go easy on me for trying to swap a Porsche for an Alfa! I'm in Wrexahm, North Wales and prepared to travel if there is any interest.

Regards Chris

I had a Boxster S a few years ago. Lovely drive. Though without belittling your car, I cant in a million years see a 2001 being a straight swap for a Brera, despite its market value.

There is just so much more car with the Brera, and even the oldest Brera will be much fresher than the Boxster.

Good luck with finding a Brera. You wont regret it.

I just sold a boxster only a 2.5 mind you. It was fully loaded PCM carrera alloys reversed white dials etc etc I started at the same price as you. Ended up letting it go for 6.5 k.

You should better than I did as you have the bigger engine.

Good luck with that.

I have to say the Alfa is a much nicer drive plus you can get the family in it.

All the best

Pete

I had a phase2 Boxster S in Lapis Blue and it performed a lot stronger than the Alfa 3.2. Agree the Brera looks newer but doesn't have the kudos of the Porsche badge.

That said I'm still biased towards the Alfa as they are more fun to drive

Yes, but generally speaking the Boxster doesnt have the same kudos as the rest of the Porsche range. I ended up parting with mine because, A) it was feeling tired, but B) I was tired of being told I drove the 'poor mans Porsche'.

That would really annoy me too.

My problem with Porsches is that though they are great cars, there seem to be a lot of people who use them as a competitive status symbol rather than as a drivers car. This means I'll never buy a Porsche as I don't want to be associated with that kind of person, which is a shame. :(

Good luck to the OP, I'm sure someone will take you up on the offer if you stick in a few grand cash. You'll have a great time in a 2.2/2.4, it won't be quite as quick as the Boxster 3.2S but it will be a very nice ride, very comfortable, newer, with surprisingly solid build quality and best of all it will always give you that warm glowing feeling inside.

Good luck, I'm sure someone will take you up on the offer. It's very tempting for me, but don't think I could live with the increased running costs and insurance. Plus, it's just coming up to winter and I don't have a garage to put it in :(

Hello again

thanks for the replies and comments, I am prepared to pay extra for a Brera so if anyone is thinking of selling their car please get in touch. As for the Porsche it is a great drivers car, not many cars can corner better than a Boxster and with the 3.2 engine it is very quick and not too bad on fuel, 23 mpg. I think they are great value for the money but I really like the Brera and fancy a change.
I would also need to sell my 156 Selespeed which has had a fortune spent on it and a bargain for £1000! Anyone want a Boxster and 156 for their Brera!

Regards Chris
