...I still use my landline phone much more
than the mobile line

...I've noticed recently that nearly all mobile phone conversations
are next to pointless:eek: and very irritating:rant: :p

I use my mobile for msn mostly, and checking email, never really ring and speak to anyone.

I don't have a mobile (except the Connect+ thing in my GTA that doesn't work properly on voice recognition  )

I use the mobile a lot with my job, usually texts though. The house phone is only there for the broadband.

And also because the reception is awful here on the mobile

my landline is there for broadband and annoying telesales calls which is why i rarely answer it.
Invariably calls usually start with
THEM:hello, Mrs Fee .. thankyou for coming to the phone.
ME: it's my bloody phone, why wouldn't i answer it??
THEM: i hope you're having a good day?
ME: why? are you going to try to sell me something?
THEM: blah, blah, excuses, lies....
ME: just hold on one second please
THEM: certainly
then i leave the phone and go to run a bath/make the dinner/clean up cat sick etc

i HATE cold callers

Quite right - they make my cat sick too.

Most people no longer have landlines so have to use their mobiles. Who are we to say that their conversations are pointless? unless of course they are yelling into it in a public place.

I am considering going to pay as you go to save money, most of my mobile use is text messages. I don't like using my mobile in public, especially on the train as there is nothing more irritating than listening to someone talking about pointless twaddle when you are either not awake yet in the morning, wanting to catch 20 winks, or cheesed off after a days work and want some quiet time.

I have a landline for ADSL and get free evening calls, so it makes sense to use them!

Free national calls on the land line, anytime. So, the mobile collects dust!
It's a big heavy one anyway, about twelve years old or so? Still works I think?

Q, who was that outburst aimed at?

sorry Mudhut...I think that quote was lifted from
another thread where someone asked me why I'm not keen
on people who use mobile phones on the bus

.it was the end of a larger post that someone edited
and decided to post on this thread... I don't know why whoever it was did that

...it was displayed totally out of context
