Does anyone know if moving the MAF would have any effect?

Instead of coming off the airbox would it make any difference if it was closer to the throttle body? like just before the 90 degree bend.

Unlikely, as long as the tube diameter stays same - the maf is calibrated for the tube diameter. As existing position is straight off turbulent airbox, I can't see any problem.

......it works fine(although others might theorise why not).

Can you tell me what type of filter or induction kit that is and is it fitting straight onto the MAF? Does that part have a silicone tube 76mm outlet, then?

....actually I just threw it together...after a lot of research of course.

76mm 90 degree(shortened) silicon tube, MAF, dry cone filter & metal ducting connected back up to the original intake infront of the wheel...works a treat.
