Been working on my GTV for about 10 months now getting it roadworthy. I bought the car as spares/repair but with some decent history for up to half of its life.

Took it in yesterday to a local garage who was fantastic with me to say the least.

He failed the car on a tyre, the brake efficiency was borderline positive and they had to work hard to get the car to fall in emissions but as i told him its not had a decent run for ages he knew what he was working with.

Anyway, once the tyre was replaced he checked the brakes, stripped them as was seized and now all sorted....no charge.

Cost of a tyre and MOT, 1 ton and job done:thumbs:

Been out today and ran really well, bottle of FORTE additive recommended and some fresh fuel and another years motoring.

Advisorys of anti roll bar links deteriated but no excessive play. Will probably look to replace wishbones etc as seasrching the forum, this looks like a subframe lowered job, labour around 5 hours?

I have this insured (COMP) on a classic policy, costs just over £300 inc breakdown with RH Specialist insurance in Essex. Would recommend

Happy days!

Hi -ref you insurance quote, is that on a V6? I'm looking to buy one and even with 5yrs no claims on main car and being 41 I'm being quoted £650-750 by most incl. Chris Knott who my insurance has been with for last 5 yrs!
Cheers.

Cracking

But how did you manage to get classic car insurance on a GTV? it's not old enough is it?
I think it probably is. I'll be checking this out next month when my renewal is due.

Currently with CK and the Full Comp Classic Cover on my Alfetta GTV 6 was £140 last year, hoping for a similar result on the TS. :)

I've seen places that do 'classic' car insurance for cars that are only 5 years old! :)

Its a 2.0 Twin Spark not a V6 and i think it falls within the 'cherished or modern classic' teritory on this.
My NCB (FULL) is used for my ford focus 1.6 and this is costing me more!
RH also said that they can add an additional driver, what he described as a good risk (the wife) for a 'nominal fee' Might have a look so that she can drive home when i have been to the pub!
