There are a number of things that have been flagged up as advisories over the years that I don’t consider a big deal and haven’t bothered to do. Yet on the next year’s MOT there is no mention of them!

I had one advisory on my GTV this year that really irritated me though. “Underside of vehicle has slight surface corrosion“ I have had three mechanics under my car in the last couple of years and all of them have commented on how solid it looks in comparison to most. It’s a 23 year old car, of course it has signs of corrosion. It has prompted me to get it on a ramp in the summer and deal with anything that is exposed. Am I best to use Wayoyl spray or am I OK to paint with Hammerite underseal on any surface rust (after rubbing it down)

Thoughts appreciated

I've had a few advisories heal themselves over the course of a year or two.

Personally I like a mix of clear waxoyl and underseal. If you can beg or borrow a compressor and schutz gun, it's quicker and more effective than a brush.
