I'm guessing I'm not the only one on here who has recently had a text saying my contract is going to be increased by 4.34% wef 1st Feb.

Is this legal, have you done anything about it?

A friend on Orange mentioned this to me today, there's no getout clause unfortunately as it's stated in the T&C's that contract fee's can rise with inflation.

You may have a case for ending the contract.

O2 did a similar thing to me, only with their broadband internet. I was able to cancel mid-term with no penalties, although I did have to send my router back.

There were several articles in the papers over the weekend, here's one

Orange mobiles: the future is a 4.3% rise in monthly charges | Money | The Guardian

It seems like they tried to do it once before but backed down after complaints, so get your complaints into them and OFCOM

I have told them material change blah blah blah and I expect to be released from my contract without penalty. If enough of us do it!
