hi guys.

strabge thing on my mito happening. a couple of days ago ive left the boot opened for a couple of hours. after thta, i closed it and now it wont open neither with the key button, neither with the outside switch. only way is pressing the emergency button from the inside.

the mechanism is fine since ive tried already another from a mito from a friend. button from outside is providing current since i can ear it near the fuse box. when i press the unlock button at the key, only the turn signals light up.

another strange thing, maybe or not related, my rear whipper only works when i turn on the rear or front defrosting/defog...

any tips?

Wiring might be breaking in the join of tailgate to body. Might be shorting out ...

Yeah, over and above the tailgate failing to open it's a common sign of some of the wiring in that section being knackered if you have the wiper affected by the rear defog. The quality of wire used is apparently not great so the stress of flexing from repeated boot opening/closing does it in eventually.

You may find these useful:

That second guide has some extra steps which seem to be to allow you to free up more of the loom to come out (presumably can make life easier with the splicing). Never tried doing a replacement myself though!
