Hi,

2004 facelift 166 2.0 TS hasn't been running well in recent months. Symptoms started out as low power/stuttering when cold. However, when the engine warmed up, it ran well.

It has got a lot worse over the past week with the car running badly all the time. A scan showed misfires on two cylinders (latest attached scan only shows one). As far as we can see, all coils are firing and the MAF has also been changed.

Also an error suggesting that the air/fuel mixture is an issue.

Has anyone had these issues with a 2.0 TS? Anything else less obvious to check for?

Thanks,

Ken.

switch coils from cylinders 1 and 2 and check if the error goes to cylinder 1. if it does, coil pack is the culprit.

Got this sorted thanks. It was an odd one. My Dad bought the car back in July to replace a 2001 166 2.0 TS that didn't pass the NCT (our version of the MOT here in Ireland). The new car was running ok, but had this intermittent misfiring/sluggishness. It got worse over the past week which promoted him to investigate further.

He found clean oil in one of the plug recesses which obviously got there from a sloppy refill. When the car was at a certain angle, the oil seemed to be shorting out the coil pack. He cleaned it up and replaced the coil pack with one from the old car (luckily he sill has it) and all is fine now.

Thanks for the help.

Coil packs are pretty cheap to replace and due to the TS engine being in abundance should be easy to find a few of them kicking about.

Think I've got quite a few good spares around if you do need some.

You tend to go through a few more running on LPG due to the dry hit of fuel rather than liquid.
Although the TS engine is damn good on LPG as whole.
