You could get another working speedo and swap over the board that is on the back of the speedo. There is a chip on the board that stores the mileage for the car.

After removing the the binnacle from the car (2x M4 allen bolts on the binnacle above the speedo and tacho and 2 connectors with a push button release)

2x philips screws on the rear cover, undo these then un-clip the sides of the cover.

pop the white plastic retainer holding the ribbon to the circuit board.
From this.

To this.

Now undo all the screws holding the circuit board to the binnacle and evenly pull the circuit board away from it and check both sides of the terminal faces of the ribbon cable for corrosion and if needed clean with fine emery cloth or fine wet n dry sand paper.

Now make sure the retainer is fully out or not falling off.

Time for reassembly.

Push the circuit board back onto the binnacle and line up the ribbon at the same time, it's not as fiddly as it sounds.

Screw the circuit board back down. now making sure the ribbon is firmly in push the retainer back down.

Now slide the cover back onto it's guide rails covering the ribbon cable. and push down till all clips click back into place.

2 philips screws and it's all back together :D
