Is there a way to change the default setting (or my preferred options) so that the "message tracking" feature is always on? (Yes, I'm keeping track of everything. My CIA training requires....whoops, I'm not supposed to mention that. ;) ).

Re: Message tracking

Hey T, have you noticed that you can now have up to 50 messages per page?? :D

I thought you'd like to know that... ;)

Re: Message tracking

I'm already there. ;)

I've set my default to show the maximum number of posts per page as possible. That was the second user defined option I set (after switching to AO classic).

Nice to see you back around these parts again, Ant. :)

Re: Message tracking

Hehe, exactly the same steps I took... :D

And then I deleted the cookies... How come you can't eat them...

Oh, and it's nice to be around here again, even though now I'm officially Alfa-less... :D

Re: Message tracking

I think so. ;) I'm just in favour of anything that involves less page loads (and therefore quicker results through my tiny dial-up line).

I should clarify what I was asking about in my first post. There is a feature that tracks the PMs that a person sends. It shows when they were sent and when they were received and opened (and presumably read). In the previous version, the default was that this feature was turned on. Now the default is that the feature is turned off. It can be enabled by checking an option box on each newly composed PM, but I've been finding that this sometimes slips my mind, especially if I am firing off PMs in a hurry.

So what I'm asking is this: Is there a way to set "always on" as a user chosen default option? I'm not asking that the AO team rework the entire software to build the feature back in. ;)

The only reason I really use the track message/receipt feature is because I'm trying to keep from storing too many messages in my Inbox, especially as I am pretty close to my limit. So because I don't keep a copy, I just want to make sure that the message actually got delivered to the recipient. And no, it's not because I don't trust the AO system or software. It's just that I don't trust the Internet. :D It gets hiccups, you know, and sometimes things get lost in cyberspace. ;) :D

As we cant be bothered to fix it, I have writen some code that will just tell you its been delivered and read when really it hasnt, will that do?
That will do just fine. :cheese:

As I said, I wasn't looking for a fix. I was just wondering if I was missing an option/a bit on the control panel/some new secret hidden button/etc. that would allow the individual users control to toggle between "default tracking on" and "default tracking off."

Mr AO

Although I do heartily welcome and appreciate the improvements, I'm not surprised that Mrs AO has put a contract out on you. :tut:

Time to take a break and get back into the 'good books'. :p

But if that is not possible, I can put together a posse to provide you with protection.
