Oh well suppose it was bound to happen eventually, 70000 Miles over two 156's, and somethings bust... :(
I had a Motor control system failure, today and had to limp back the 80 miles to home...should never have gone to Lancashire anyway..
Anybody had this on a JTS?, it will run, but won't rev or pull. on a flat road I can maintain speed but as I try to accelarate, or climb a hill, it Misfires badly :(
I would have said a coil problem on a 'real' engine, but these microchip mechanisms we have now are beyond me.

Yes, I had an MCS failure (very) shortly after buying my car. There are several threads on the subject. The MCS warning light in my car stayed on for a week but the car's performance seemed not to be affected.

Then, as if by magic, the night before it was due to go into the dealer, the warning disappeared and I started getting the "Check OK" message.

I took the car anyway and they said they had performed the mod to the Lamda sensor wiring which dealers have been told about by Alfa. The obvious difference is that your car is plainly sick. Hope it's not too bad!

The thread I started is here:

Thanks Joe, (and Rick), took it in to the sales dept today so that service can have a look first thing. I will ask them to check the Lamda sensor wiring, what's the betting they will play dumb and say they have never heard of that fault.
Looks like I will have to use the 1750 for a while.... :) ;)

Oh well........................ :(
Went to pick it up wednesday morning, guess what......Motor control systems failure, before I even left the forecourt... :(

Loose wires this time

But they are so confident of this, they still have it now (thursday Lunch)......just to add to my woes my home PC has packed up so I have no internet apart from a sneak or two during the day. Oh happy days.. :D

Great....fixed it,....er well no actually.
The Guy dropped it back off at my place Thursday night, drove off in my loan Car, I started it to put it on the drive....guess what, MOTOR CONTROL SYSTEMS FAILURE..
          :

This is getting silly, it does work to be fair, but the lights on so it's not fixed.

Erm, I haven't now, but it was a Punto.
Tried to scrounge a Multivalve JTD for the weekend as they are taking mine back tonite, but mysteriously they don't have one. :(

I went to the section area meet last night, but went in the 1750 for reliability reasons.....now that's not what I would be expecting to say. :D

This thing is still going on..... :(
I had another Failure about two weeks back, which we put down to me running the fuel low, the dealer re set it. Then again it came back on during a run up to Scotland on Friday. :(
This time they have ordered more Lambda sensors, and a Catalyst
But it still runs OK, desoite all this. I am seriously starting to doubt all this Electronic diagnostic systems.

When we got our JTS ... I too wondered whether all this technology is going to stay right... especially all this self diagnostic stuff which I currently don't have a problem with but from here there seems to be too many gremlins playing with warning messages etc that sometimes just disappear  I'm wondering whether I'll get fleeced in the future for a reported fault that actually doesn't exist

Its still going on hey... sorry to hear that :( Hope its sorted soon ;)

Fingers crossed......yup. they changed a Lamda, and I think the Exhaust section with the Cat in it.
The Car feels faster now than it ever has, but Fuel Economy according to the Computer is a bit down. That might just be a recalibration to make it actual represent what it really uses though. ;)

Good to hear that, Micth. I only notice today that you had a problem with your JTS. Fingers crossed! :)
