But my JTD has had its numberplate reg changed twice ( from original, to custom, to standard ).

Now the log book states it was manufactured in 2001, but REGISTERED in 2004........what exactly does this mean. As far as I know the original reg. number was Northern Ireland ( aaa 0000 - three letters followed by four digits )

The registered in 2004 just sounds like that was the first registration date in the UK, it may have been used in ireland for the first three years of it's life or as rockhopper suggested above.

an NI reg would transfer to a GB mainland style reg with the same first date of registration ;)

its simply not been sold for a couple years or so

Yep, that what i thought with it being an NI reg number. It also means that it needs a cambelt change before its even been driven!
