just an update. I've been using the alfa/fiat specialist in bham called motor mech about 3 times. although they seem to know their stuff i'm concerned they use the approach of removing 10 bolts and put 5 back on.

if you use them just check what bolts they taken off are put back on, as my engine tray is loose and missing some bolts. when I had the cambelt changed by them i also noticed a bolt missing that held what i think is the A/C pipe to the engine head.

PDH-Hassocks

Well, the short version? I would not buy a car from them, even turned down a test drive, simply because of the mood they have put me in!
Long version- Couldn´t find car keys on the way out the door, took the extra set. So had both in my bag when I was mugged in Paris(!)
Taxi home, got the master key, pulled the fuse for the alarm and able to drive. Took car, master, documents to PDH, as it is closest after my move. Paid for the keys, had them ordered with the promise of "about 14 days to a month." I have had to ring them 6-7 times, no one ever knows anything about the keys until I have related the story....then "they are on back-order." Fair enough, if you cannot get them....but then CALL the customer!
FINALLY the keys arrived, although I AGAIN had to call them to find this out. June to November,,,,,,, Anyway, told them that I would come immediately the next day to have them cut and coded.
Keys turn out to be the one button type, which they could not code to the doors and the alarm! So then why not order the non-electronic keys with just the transponder????
Re cutting....."Well, there is a place in the village, but I don´t know if they can cut them." So they have never had to replace a key? ...and couldn´t be bothered to check in advance, knowing I needed this?
...I got them cut, came back for the coding of the transponder. "Well, you need an appointment for that...." I TOLD you yesterday I would come right away and if it needed an appointment, surely you made one!?
Had to wait, which is fine, but even there....."I´ll bring you a coffee..." Wander about the showroom, keep looking back to see if said coffee has arrived....nope. So ask again, and get the attitude.....like I am really bothering them.
I need 4 new tyres, NOT giving them the sale.....I am looking for a newer car, would never consider them....all down to lack of interest and service-minded staff.
CAN the keys be coded, then I will have a great set of new keys, if they can´t then a really expensive set and an external fob. crazy......
...and 60 pounds to code the keys BTW.

Alfa main dealer good service

Bought mine from EMG Cambridge, were enthusiastic, helpful, did everything they said they would and more. :)

Before that went to Desira Bury St Edmunds for test drive, said I definately wanted one, work out best price and let me know - never heard another thing from them :tut:

No experience for servicing yet - would be interested in other's experiences in East Anglia.
Just had my 156 SW fully serviced and not at Desira Bury St Edmunds. Very good service. Gave me a loan car etc. Kept me informed. Very pleased. Car drives like new again. And it's all about that Alfa service stamp!

Piccadilly Motors, Knaresborough

Bought my 11-plate G from these guys in February. The buying experience was very good, and both times the car has been back the after-sales service has been excellent. The first time was to fix a water leak in the rear doors (window lift mechanisms replaced, happens on Golfs too apparently), the second this week to check the clutch operation (nff, I'm just too used to automatics!), adjust the headlight main beams and fix a rattle. On both occasions they provided a loan car and did all the work at no cost to me. All the staff I've had contact with have been friendly, helpful and efficient. They also called me a few days after each visit to make sure I was happy with the car and their service. Highly recommended!

Bought a lovely G MA QV line from Northgate in Canterbury this week, upgrading my 2 year old G Veloce. The service and sales approach from the guys there was fantastic, particularly from John and Sam.

I've used far too many Alfa dealers around London, with many a disappointing experience, but I'd travel the 100 miles to use Northgate again, I was that impressed. Even the coffee was good!

Can anyone confirm whether Twinspark Hamstead Alfa dealership is still going in London? The previous owner of my car used them and I need to confirm some details with them, if they are still about has anyone got a contact number?! Cannot find a phone number that actually works! Thanks

159

Hal,

PM if you prefer.....but what was your overall experience with the 159? With a baby in the house, the GTV is hard-pressed to transport all the ......err...."equipment," the GF thinks is a necessity.....

Jordans Hull

Recently bought a used Giulietta from Marshalls Scunthorpe (VW main dealer). After a few weeks it developed what sounded to me like a bearing noise from cam belt area under the bonnet. The car had a Marshalls own group used car warranty, so I rang them and was surprised to hear them say that they would prefer that I took the car to a main dealer as they had no experience with or diagnostic equipment for Alfas, and confirmed that as long as any work that was required was pre authorised by Marshalls Warranty, then it would be paid for.

I talked to Neil at Jordans of Hull, he confirmed that they would do minimum investigation necessary to diagnose the fault then seek authorisation before spending more money, so I booked a date and took it in.

Well, I was expecting the worst and was gearing myself up for arguments with Marshalls warranty about whether or not the repairs would be covered.................... Upped my blood pressure for nothing, 4 hours later got a call from Jordans, car needed cam belt kit as a tensioner bearing was failing, work had been authorised by Marshalls so I could pick the car up the following day with nothing to pay! :)

Collected the car, repair done, full valet inside and out plus air conditioning sanitiser (nice lemon smell!), how brilliant was that!!

Well done Jordans, great customer service, very professional

Well done Marshalls, a warranty that works

Well here is my tuppence worth.

I recently drove 212 miles from Newcastle to buy two cars from these guys in Edgbaston, Birmingham(159 2.2 JTS and 2.2 JTS Spider)

Pre-loved used Alfa Romeo cars | Love Alfa Love Alfa

Both the owners (Andrew and Toby) were very accommodating and they certainly know there stuff! No pressure from them and they left you to have a good look around. There cars are also in Excellent condition with full histories on both the cars that I purchased.

I had some missing items on both cars and when I contacted them they immediately despatched them to me in Newcastle with no quibble!

Great garage, great guys and great cars!

Will definatley go there again, especially as the misses now wants a Jeep Renegade.

Never thought I'd say this but.... I went to Mangoletsi and bought my 7th Alfa (5th from there). After varying experiences in the past, from fantastic to absolutely dire I took the plunge for a used Guilietta. Salesman was Jamie and I must say that he was excellent. I just cant fault the customer service. I had mentioned that in the past the Customer Service was awful and he was honest enough to say that they are trying to improve, especially the after sales part. They have a 30 day 1000 mile exchange now too which I was impressed with. He wasn't pushy but he did sort everything and it was fairly hassle free.

For once, a positive experience and I hope it goes some way to them rebuilding good customer service and I hope it wasn't a one off!

Main dealer servicing

Alexanders of Teeside are very good at servicing all alfas.
I travel down from Newcastle to get my alfa serviced much better than the only other local alfa dealer.

Alfa garage London?

Can anyone recommend a decent Alfa specialist in the Greater London area (preferably west-central) for annual servicing and bodywork repairs? I'm the proud owner of a GTV 3.2 and used to go to Perrys in Amersham where I bought it but they've closed down.

I would agree with this comment, my experience of Mango's sales is not good, so much so that I told Fraser that I would never buy another car from them.
Stores and service have always been excellent.
Snap. Fraser is a genuinely nice, who has some very truculent people on his management team at Mangoletsi.

I had a salesman who knew nothing about the stock list or the trim on the Guilietta. I then had problems when they ripped to pieces the door card to the point the window switches were hanging off and did not tell me about it – just gave me the damaged car back. Three salesmen I spoke to are all new – looks like a very high turnover of staff.

Fraser the MD was spot on – very apologetic and offered balance to another car.

The new car with only 30 deliver miles is scratched to oblivion by a terrible valeting polishing matching job and has several paint chip and scratch marks as they parked it next to the busy A50 causing no end of damage. Not immediately obvious when collected as it was dripping in wax hiding rampant spider webbing. Also a damaged dashboard I think caused by the sales sign.

Alan their sales manager has been incredibly rude – even to my nearly 70 year old mother who came along for the experience of picking up a shiny new Alfa – I was treated with distain and made to feel like I was something that was on their shoes. This is the second brand new car I have bought from this dealership having bought a Fiat previously – will never return for a new car from them again. Still need to sort out the paintwork on this one – also, the folding mirrors are broken so I will need to brave another workshop visit which will be interesting. Such a shame as the product as it comes from Turin is fantastic – such a shame they do not prepare or repair cars respectfully causing damage in my experience of them.

Motorvogue Northampton

Motorvogue are my local dealer and i was very happy with the sales team when I bought my new Giulia. I was always a bit sceptical about the aftercare, as I had used them before. However, credit where it's due, I really enjoyed the attentive service from them today. The team is new (to me) and all of them seem to be enjoying their jobs. They completed my service and I was on my way quickly, together with some advise about an issue I brought up. Their advise was correct and my Giulia is still fault free after 18k miles.

WELL DONE MOTORVOGUE !
