I got a replacement Bosch MAF for my 156, as it was going cheap and i thought it would be worth keeping just in case.
Problem is, when it turned up, it has a different plug fitment to the one that is already on there.
Now i am having a few symptoms that are making me think my old MAF is on its way out, but i cant do a straight swap. Is there any way of just swapping the internals over? I wanted to ask on here first before completelydestroying the one thats on there and maybe even killing my replacement without even fitting it

Am not aware of any plug changes
No way the internal could be switched AFAIK, the back of the sensor is where the plug fits...
Deffo like for like unit, ie part numbers?

Not good sounds like it is not the correct one for the car,I knowtheir are various mafs that cross over makes.
Have a search on here for threads to do with mafs and i think that will help you.
Good luck

Did my 2.5 recently put a maf off a omega 2.5 onto it and it did the trick even though the no on the maf were different! It cost me nothing so there was nothing to lose!

sounds like you got a MAF for either a 155 or Ph1 GTV. What engine is your 156? My advise would be to return it & buy the correct MAF.

its false/bad advertising. 145/146/155 using the 4 position connector, 156/147/166 use 5 pin connectors. Anyone selling MAF's should know this.

Return it ASAP asking for the correct type for your 156 car. If that doesn't work then 'Open a Dispute' with the seller

Can i still do that as its a few weeks since i bought it?
I should have checked sooner really but just assumed it was the same. Even when i opened it up and looked at it, i didnt realise until i had actually tried to plug the wire into it...

afaik you have a month or so to open a dispute BUT first you must enter into correspondence with the seller. Be polite but firm, asking for them to exchange it for the correct one, quote the part number you require.
