The other day whilst driving down the M62 I leaned back in the drivers seat of my 156 GTA and heard a crack, thought oh oh that didnt sound good. Looks like I've done something to the lumbar support as the knob is now just turning freely and doing nothing. Anyone any idea what I've broken and what it's going to cost to fix!!!

Thanks

It was a little uncomfortable after a 4 hour drive, so want to fix eventually.

Had a look behind the back pad of the seat by pulling it forward a little, but I couldnt see anything. I could see some springs at the top of the middle pad of the seat, anyone know how to dettach them?

Thanks

Did you manage to detach the back panel from the main part of the seat? They feel like they're just clipped in to me, but I've never managed to undo one to get in there.

just an update I managed to fix this,

Theres 2 hooks at the top of the seat pad (on the main seat base). The pad is held onto them via a metal pin the length of the pad. You basically have to pull this out to release the pad, then theres some spring clips lower down which can easily be seen and unclipped.

The issue was that the roller is connected to a cage via a tensioning wire you tension the wire via the roller and it tensions/pushes out the cage giving you lumbar support . The metal hook between the wire and the cage had snapped. I used some metal rope (I experimented with some fairly heavy gauge electrical wire 1st, but it snapped when i out weight on the pad) to replace the broken metal clip.

Replace the pad and put the metal pin back through the hooks and bobs your uncle!

Yes saved myself a trip to the leather upholster specialists!!!
And I know how to fix the other one if it goes ping

Turned out to be an easier job than I thought once I got the top of the pad released.
