hi,
can anyone give me some direction in the confusing world of lowering spring!
i ve got a 147 2.0ts 2002 with 17" wheels with 45 sieres tyres and i want to lower it but i cant find any pictures of what it would look like at 30 mm or 40mm and would 40 mm be to low ??whats the difference between sportline and pro sport , i just want to lower it for looks but dont what to wreck the underneith any opions would be most welcome or does anyone have any pic,s to show 40mm car ?, many thanks jay

I lowered my 147 using Eibach Pro Street springs -30mm and Bilstein B8 Sprint shocks, best thing ive done to the car since ive had it

Anyways,

Will you just be lowering with just springs or you want the fullmonty?? I think if your lowering then go the whole hog and change the shocks while your at it :thumbs:

I still think its how it should of looked like when it came out the factory, but the only downside is that I have once or twice got stuck on HUGE speed humps :cheese:

from what ive read i think it would be wise to change all , what you think ? can you get away with standard with 30 mm ?

Im sure its possible to get away with just the drop, but im not sure on how the ride would be, maybe harsh??

With mine the ride is firm and it don't crash anymore either

That's one of the reason's I don't want to lower my 147, the other is the expense of the tyres on 17" ( I only ever use the Goodyear F1 tread pattern....:lolbut I must say the supersports wheel really looks awesome on your lowered car!!!
Think I will stick to my 16's, getting them refurbed at Wheel Specialist Manchester in smoked chrome....can't wait roll on 4th Feb!!!

They are HIDs, 6000k infact and they are such an improvement

They are both beautiful cars! deffo lower it!

i'm gonna do it to mine but not until i have swapped it for a black one (yes i'm actually selling my blue 147 because i want a black one. even tho i say its because it needs a cambelt in just over 10,000 miles)

also how much were the GTA style alloys if you don't mind me asking?

and does it being lowered make anything wear out quicker than the standard would?

What side Skirts do you have, they are the only set i'v seen that dont look stupid on the 147. And where did you get the Chrome surround for the Grill. I want to Black my Grill out, but have a chrome surround. 8C style

(cant wait till I go back home for easter, then I can start putting the small mound of Parts onto my car).

If you want a black one, get metallic black, not just the plain black. I don't have metallic and the paint is really soft and the front is really chipped easily, especially in winter when there is a lot of grit on the road...

I got the GTA teledials for 300 EUR. They come from the previous owner of my 147GTA and they were not used at all, maybe driven for 2 weeks till he swapped them for 19". I think the price was good, but hey, I bought a complete car from him before

I think the wear of suspension would be similar to standard, maybe less, but not very much. I lowered it at 45k kms on the clock. Car has now 125k kms. And I needed lower wishbones at 75k, upper wishbones and ARB droplinks at 115k, rear transverse arms at 100k and that's all. I would say the components should last about 20-25 percent less but it depends on the roads you are driving on.

The skirts are GTA copies from Lester. They make them for both 3 and 5 door. They were not absolutely perfect fit, they were about 5-8mm longer so I have small gaps where they end on the wings, but nothing you would notice, in general they are OK and cheap. No cracks in 5years, but passengers tend to kick them with foot when they step in as they make the door sill really wide.

The chromed grill is just a chromed 3M tape, about 25-30mm wide with double sided tape on the back. Cost me 2 or 3 EUR, but I like the effect

You want a facelift bumper? Front one? Really? Except the fact I prefer pre-facelift, you need to change wings, bonnet, headlights, bumper and all its trim and maybe something more to fit it. Not worth it.
