Why are you still reading this and not replacing your rear shocks?

Oh yes... your haven't bought any yet.

If you still have standard shocks on the back your *** is getting a righteous pounding. It doesn't have to be that way! If you can undo and fasten 14 bolts and you've got 80 quid and about 90 minutes spare then you could be riding on wings of angels (is that laying it on a bit thick?) by the weekend.

I bought KYB gas adjust but you could splash out on Koni's or some such fancy kit. But whatever you chose you will now have shock absorbers!

Is there a faq/walkthrough and do you need to get an alignment etc afterwards ?

Or is it really just a straight swap ? On a spider ? :)

I remember doing this on my old mk1 mr2, but it was a right faff with spring compressors, and wheel alignment :(

Straight swop.. four bolts.. four nuts.. eight washers.. couple of spanners and a jack.. cup of tea..

In fact if you make the tea before you start it will still be warm when you're finished.

oh yea plus the ten wheel bolts.. five per side..

yep.. I make that fourteen in all..

While you're waiting for the new shocks to be delivered, get on the floor behind the car and squirt some plus gas or gt 85 on the nuts at the top and bottom of each shock. Then come delivery time they should be easy to undo.

Tightening torque for the top nut is:
59-72 nm

Bottom is 79-98 nm

I managed it on one side using a pair of small ramps without taking the wheels off. Just an experiment to see if it was quicker. It was much easier with the wheels off - which is how I did the other side! :) Simple job.
