I have two questions about my 156.

1st, there is a loud and seemingly random beep coming from the dashboard, it will beep on some journeys and not others, I'm thinking it is a bonnet or door sensor maybe. I don't have a manual to consult. Car performs fine regardless, with just the airbag warning light lit.

2nd, does the 156 come with a under tray as standard, mine is a 2001 model with no under tray. the under bonnet area is fairly dirty and does have mounting points for an under tray so I'm thinking yes.

The 147 comes with the undertray, and it does stop a lot of crud getting into the bay. Could be a sensor indicating door closure required, we had this intermittently on one occasion, with the warning up for a few secs. on the display as well I think?

The nearside front door is not closing perfectly which is why I think it could be a door sensor. Its a very loud and distracting beep. Theres no warning light on the display though.

Hmnn! bit of a puzzle then? If you suspect that particular door, does it not indicate it, with the engine running before you actually move off? Probably not, if its fairly infrequent I guess. Hope you can sort it anyway.:):

It occurs while moving and stationery with no warning lights. Only on some journeys though.
Id say it probably says in the manual what it is if anyone has their manual handy?

The 156 does come with an undertray, yes, but it gets so wrecked on a lot of cars that some owners just remove them completely to save the bother of replacing them. On the recommendation of our local independent Alfa specialist, that's what my dad did with his 156, and he's had no problems.

Thanks for the advice jonwood79, the engine should run cooler too.

The beeping sound only occurs after carrying passengers, anybody help me with this?

Just a thought (and sounds a bit silly so excuse me if I'm way off)
The stereo will beep loudly if you have the TA on and the signal is poor for whatever FM station you are listening to.
It aint that by any chance is it ?

Saint Ethinenne it could bee from the steoro, theres a Blaupunkt Casablanca fitted to my car. But its very loud and I mean highly distracting regardless of the stereo volume I think. Ill drive about a bit with the radio on to test this.

I just found out today that my timing belt has been replaced recently, I suspected that my timing belt was never changed in my cars 91,000 miles so any excuse for a drive is welcome.:)

My AR 147 has had exactly the same thing last time... I have turned off the key and started again and it was ok... I don't know what that was but if that was the radio TA why the beep came from the dashboard?

I drove 120 miles today, the car beeped 3 times.

It definitely wasn't the radio losing reception cos I was listening to a cd.
I dont think it was a door sensor either cos the door has remained shut for my last few journeys.

I presume if it was something important Id get a warning light?
