No sure if anyone reading this read my other thread (if anyone knows how I delete it either via Tapatalk or website I'd appreciate it)

So car has been running after the incident on Christmas day, only too and from work very short journeys, waiting for a guy at work to look at it (also a mechanic) he let me down, but did say it sounds like the spark plugs.

Spark plugs came today fitted them, the old ones did look bad and all but 1 were very easy to remove so I'm presuming they were loose.

Started the car idle perfect the cars always vibrated on idling but she was running so smooth it was like night and day.

Went out for a quick run find on the bypass about 60mph which triggered the symptoms before but nothing smooth finnaly relieaved the problem was sorted took her down a country lane out of no where loss of power only difference this time warnings came up various things disabled, check engine light came up before dying on me.

Managed to get past a blind corner to pull over plugged in my obd dongle although not happy about it happy to atleast see somthing logged for a change.

Random/multiple cylinder missfire
Cylinder 1 misfire
Cylinder 2 misfire

Now its saying the same but also problem with the map sensor too.

I've swapped coil packs around still same, am I right in thinking the map sensor suddenly going is weird.

Also the map sensor malfunctioning would cause just 2 cylinders to misfire if it dose it to 2 it would cause it in all 4 surly.

Your old thread is here: https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-giulietta/1173419-randomly-getting-power.html

You are using some generic program to read the codes. I wonder if there are vendor specific codes it is not showing to you. Anybody knows? In the previous thread you said you had check engine light without any DTCs -- likely the scanner was not showing them for some reason.

If you have an android phone, try to read the DTC with a trial version of alfa obd.

I knew where it was I'm asking if there's a way to delete it.

Correct it's not a professional one but it wasnt showing any error codes because there was non this is the first time the check engine light has stayed on long enough for me to check it.

Toruqe is pretty extensive it's helped me multiple times and on different vehicals but you may be right about vendor specifics.

I use mutiecuscan and it is a very specific program that will diagnose Alfa, Fiat, Lancia and Suzuki ecu problems. Those dongles on the internet are helpful but only provide generic fault codes, manufacturer specific software can be so much more informative.

I don't know how to delete a thread.

The DTCs don't disappear just because the check engine light goes off. They are stored until you delete them. Would be quite annoying otherwise.

You can try cleaning the MAP sensor.

Cleaning isn't really that effective on a map sensor from what I understand, it's more effective on maf sensors.

To be honest I'd happily buy a new one if this is causing the misfires in cylinders 1 & 2, but if there's somthing deeper gong on I'd rather just find someone to look at it, surly if its solely the map failing it would effect all cylinders not just 2 ?

The MAP can also show errors because of other errors (the misfires). Changing the MAP might just end up as wasted money. Is there more info associated with the misfires (more data in the app)? Could be very valuabe. Have you had more misfires since?

Yes I've swapped coil packs the misfire stay on 1 & 2, I was thinking of swapping spark plugs but they are new so what are the chances of me getting 2 duff ones and install them next to each other.

Unfortunately that's all the info I get on the torque app..

I have app specifically for Alfa romeo but I don't have 5 digit pass code or know which ecu I have.

Ok. If the misfires started with changing spark plugs, I'd jump the queue and open it up and check that they are properly seated (and check how they look) as it's an identifiable variable before/after. However, misfires can happen without giving a code. For a code to trigger the misfires will have to follow a pattern and happen X amount of times.

Otherwise I'd follow the fault diagnosis chart Mito_No3 posted to start with.

What your saying makes alot of sense it must of been this issue before as the symptoms are similar but it's now showing me codes and now alerting me that I need to check then engine.

Also quick update switched plugs from cylinder 1 & 3, cleared ecu fault codes car started nothings come back on idling but revs are unstable, there's an ever so slight knocking sound probably wouldn't even notice it if I wasn't paronoid.

Change map sensor today, came up with pending fault p0069, so reset hasn't come back but is running rougher, which for some weird reason I have a gut feeling is good as its highlighting a problem.

One thing I did notice is the old map sensor was wet and smelled of fuel.

The breather hose smelled the same.

Thinking of booking it in with kwikfit for a service and telling them what's going on I'd rather have a specialist or alfa Look at it but I doubt I could reach any of them unfortunately.

Anyone know a decent garage / auto shop in Tamworth I can take my car, at the minute I may have to use kwikfit as it's close to work, just need it sorted walked to work today, rather a 40 min walk then risk damaging her more.
