Hi everyone.

I'm currently looking round for a 156 JTD and I'm seeking for some advise as to what to look for. I'll probably have around £3-4k to spend.

Is there much difference in power between the 1.9 and the 2.4. Also does anyone know where I can find information on the different specs, i.e. Veloce, Lusso etc.

Are there any pro's and con's to certain versions, i.e. pre or post 2002 etc.

I'm really looking for one with a 'sport kit' i.e. spoiler, skirts alloys etc.

Any advise would be gratefully received

All depends on which year of 2.4 you go for as they had incremental increases with the year, but imo even the 2.4 136bhp is a sweeter unit than the 1.9 150bhp and definitely recommended.

Veloce: Sports spec with stiffer springs and side skirts e.t.c
Lusso: Comfort spec with softer springs

2002-2003 cars had the facelift dash and kept the old bodywork.

Later cars had facelift bodywork and dash (apparently better built also).

Checks:-

Turbo smoke and make sure car revs all the way up to max revs

Squeaks from front suspension

Check bushes on rear suspension

Air flow meter

Any warning lights on dash

Cambelt changed (every 72k or 5 years - whichever comes first)
