Some parts are getting hard to find. My dash lights up like a christmas tree and can't pass the inspection without fixing a couple things. I have a Left side lateral air bag that lost its gas, so thats hard to find now apparently, and the ABS box. Also a tough one. Frustrating because a car that otherwise runs perfectly is going to get crushed because it wont pass for faulty features that many cars don't even have! All this because they dont stock the parts anymore! I love this damned car, I would drive it forever but I am going to have to buy something pre 1995 for my next car to avoid this obsolescence crap! Oh.. in case you're wondering. This comes from an inspection at an Alfa Dealer. (the abs piston is done). They have someone working on finding parts, so I am waiting on it, but in the meantime I thought I would throw a line out to you lot. Have had luck here before! 2005 156 SW Ti, 1.9L 16V diesel 150Hp. I am in the process of buying a 2012 Guilietta, 170Hp petrol model, anyone has anything to say about that, please don't hesitate to weigh in.

Check the classifieds. There is a guy that just started breaking a GT. I've bought a few things off him and he is great to deal with. Good chance he has what you need but be quick!

thanks everyone, definitely some helpful information there. I am now more confident about finding the abs box, but I am no closer with the airbag. Im pretty sure that has to be new. I am feeling a bit defeated, if I am going to be shut down because I can no longer get a part like a small airbag, it sort of removes any confidence in continuing with maintenance on this car. Why would I spend money replacing some of my suspension (next project)when I am going to have my insurance pulled because I cant pass a basic inspection due to a warning light. programmed obsolescence is a b*tch. Im so bummed at this point that I feel even if the Alfa dealer finds one, there is just going to be another problem like that next week and the 1000 euros plus I will be spending on maintenance is essentially a waste of time.

What makes you think it needs to new? As long as all the lights are off in an inspection how would they even know if were new?

Oh I am totally down with new parts, I always intended to drive this car well into the future, best car ever! I am a semi confident mechanic and get a lot of stuff done on my own. I know nothing about airbags however, and was told that once armed, you can't re-install them, thus eliminating used ones.

Interesting never heard this. I would think the ones I linked ot wouldn't be up for sale if unusable? Will be interested in hearing the outcome of this for future reference.

They are fully reusable. When scrap yards buy in stock, the value of the airbags is taken into account as the most valuable element of a write off. They are not an 'armed item'. They are either off, or on, or expended.
