A long time coming but most know it's already started, but here it is, officaially launched....
PART 4
Spent a nice day out with Shrewi today fetching what was supposed to be a pretty good, tidy & strong Sud shell but we've all been there and seen the mess that is waiting to be unearthed but.............
it does look pretty good
The idea of the build has been bounded about for a while but for those who don't know it will be very simple.
A Sud built mainly for track day use which may be made road legal.
It WILL be a 1.7 16V engined car, donor car already sorted
Stripped out, light-weight. Roll cage, front race seats with no rears.
Custom facia/dials most likely with Bike style instrumentation panel.
Suspension as yet undecided between coilovers or Koni's & Class F type springs.
Outboard front brakes which will be some type of 4 pot caliper, rear handbrake on 33 back axle.
Perspex windows etc.....
Aiming for around 900kgs or less and around 150 to 160 bhp with a few subtle tweaks. More if I come across a cheaper way of getting more go!
Few pics as we collected the car.
Big thankyou to Shrew for taking the day to collect it with his Van and Richard for the loan of the trailer.
Pics are pretty self explanatory, check out the condition of the inner rear wheel arches, amazing
The underside looks pretty good, even has all 4 jacking points! At the moment I'm very encouraged by the lack of welding evidently needed but until all the underseal is scrapped and prodded at I won't know for sure but already it's way better than my old red one was at this stage.
