Driving down south from Warrington, I thought the road surfaces around Birmingham were pretty awful. Then it all went a bit pear shaped in the handing department. One of the less good places in the world to break down, the Aston Expressway:

Very nice AA man recovered the car, and we're now waiting for the nice tyre man to show up:

I think I picked something up, it gave me about 30 seconds of deflation time, then just disintegrated. Thankfully by the time it went, I was doing about 40 in the inside lane, so no drama. Hopefully the rim is OK!

Yup, the rim is a bit scratched, but no damage. Only annoying thing is that I now have mismatched tyres, but at 10:30, "round and black in the right size" is the only specification needed. I'm going to take the space saver out of the parts car and lob it in the GT wheel well. Tyre goo is only useful if you have a flat when you return to the car!

In situations like that, you really need a big bit of cardboard on which you can write:

"It's the tyre - I've not broken down, honest!"

Just to stop all the people making assumptions about your Alfa.
