Lincs Afternoon & Evening Meet – BLS Automotives - 8 October 2011.

For the October Meet we are off to see Tom and Phil at BLS, Independent Alfa Specialists in Lincoln ( Part 1 ). There may be a Part 2 which will be in a local hostelry, this has yet to be decided/organized, watch this space !

PART 1 OF THIS MEET

Date :- Saturday, 8th October.
Time :- 13 00 onwards
Place :- BLS Automotive, Unit 1, Great Northern Way, Great Northern Terrace, Lincoln. LN5 8XF.
Telephone : 01522 531 529

Here’s a Link so you can see what BLS is all about.

Tom and Phil at BLS have kindly agreed to have us on this Saturday afternoon. They will show and tell us how they Race Prep cars ( this depends on what’s in the garage at the time ), show us Alfadiag and check your car on this if you wish and will also talk about any specific issues you may have with your car. I suspect that there will be a lot more on offer so it’s going to be an Alfa afternoon ! Tom and Phil are also providing light refreshments for us all. Please remember that this is a sort of Open Day so don’t expect a free Cambelt change whilst you wait !

For those of you who may not have been to BLS before the garage is just a short walk from Lincoln City Centre which has good shopping facilities so maybe whilst we are talking about oily bits the ladies may wish to test your Credit Cards in Lincoln ???? !!!!! I realize that many ladies will also be interested in hearing words of wisdom from Tom and Phil, just put the last bit in in case any of you need an excuse to come, this might just tip the balance !

PART 2 OF THIS MEET

There may or may not be a Part 2, keep an eye on this Post.

I would really like to see a good turn out for this one as Tom and Phil have given up their Saturday afternoon for us and it would be a real shame if only half a dozen of us showed up. So please do make an effort to attend, we would all like to see as many fellow AO ers as we can.

If you are new to the meets don’t be shy, just come along and join in. You needn’t come alone, bring wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend or even granny, everyone is very welcome. The conversations are wide ranging so you don’t have to be a car nut to enjoy the meet.

Please RSVP, I MUST have an idea of numbers for this one so. even if you can’t make it at all just respond with “ NO “, this way I can gauge how many have at least considered this Event. If you have any queries or questions Post on here or PM me. I’m looking forward, as always, to this Meet so do come along if you can.

I wont be there but my 75 gearbox will be. I suggested to Tom that it would be good if he could have the gearbox there stripped down and on show for the meet. I have just had an email confirming that this will happen so if anyone is interested in seeing what goes on inside a gearbox or what exactly goes into restoring one then this is your chance

Yeah you will see the gearbox

I suggested it to Tom as im sure there are many people who have no idea whats inside a gearbox or indeed how they actually work. Its a perfect chance for everyone really because if anyone can explain how they work and what does what its those guys!

Your always welcome to pop over and have a look at the 75 if you want Mark as long as im there obviously  Not got an awfull lot done really as ive been busy with the pub but ive now got all the parts to re-build the back end (once ive got the box back from BLS) New drilled and grooved discs, pads, re-con calipers, gearbox mounts etc etc, Just need to get a new slave cylinder and finish the prep work on the axle itself so i can get it painted then its ready to go together and get back on the car with any luck!

The front end is a different story, Going to be very expensive so cant afford that right now. Ive got the new windows ready to go in but need to fabricate some sort of mounting bracket and seals for them as im not wanting to rivet them in which is how they are designed to go in place but ive got a few ideas aready

Only just seen this - a usual maybe from me!

The ladies can hit the shops, eh Nige! :tut: Actually....I will do that also :D
Seems to be a common problem.......I very rarely notice meets coming up unless im physicly looking for them....any way this can be avoided Nige as i think many members are simply not aware of meets coming up?

Only thing i can think of is to PM all lincs members when meets are posted but this can be very time consuming for you and also some might not apreciate being badgered?? Who knows!

I'll be there Nige.

Kev told me of the meet and i gather is keenly generating interest,
and as the race car will be on show, with my exhaust manifold fitted to it, i'll hang around and talk pipes with anyone that cares to.

should be a good meet, BLS are great folk, very welcoming and approachable, everyone should enjoy seeing some nice cars and understanding a little more about their own if needs be.

till then
