I live in the Uk and I have a LHD Alfa 166 3.2l originally imported from Germany. On holiday in Belgium someone broke off my left hand side wing mirror (it's the driver side as it's a LHD car).
Handed in my car to an Alfa garage in North London. Got it back with a new mirror, set me back about 400£ including spray painting it the right colour and suprise surprise even if I turn the mirror the furthest out possible I still see the side of my car in it in about half the mirror and the street only in about the other half. Before with the old mirror, I could tilt the mirror so I could see only the street and none of my own car if I wanted to. Alfa claim they ordered the correct part and have fitted it correctly. Is it possible that the left side mirror on a LHD Alfa 166 is not identical to the left side mirror of a RHD Alfa 166. This being the UK Alfa one can assume Alfa ordered a left side mirror for a RHD Alfa? Any help appreciated

If you push the mirror by hand is it ok? sounds like they put the old internals in a new case and its faulty or incorrectly fitted. Either way you need to take it back and get them to sort it out.

yep they are different looks like only the outer shell and trhe electric motor are the same.

Angles,as you have found out are well different otherwise they'd be the same.

Thanks for the replies, appreciate it. The weird part is that Alfa say they ordered the replacement parts with my chassis number so they couldn't have ordered the wrong ones according to them, but it's the only plausible explanation. I have tried replacing just the actual glass piece (the mirror itself) and that doesn't change anything. So the wrong angle must be due to some of the mechanical parts.

I don't have the part number of the fitted part. I left in a rush and didn't even get a copy of an invoice it was Saturday 1130 and they were closing. I will call them tmrw first thing. What do you mean by vin no? Do you mean the chassis number?
