Hi fletch
I'm taking the old girl in on Thursday for service, variator & possibly lambda sensor (suspected on the way out cos i've had a bit of jerky running and injector light coming on). Taking it to specialist who has quoted £68 for a new sensor.

As far as I know Alfa will supply you with the upgraded one, best ask first though.

I had a lambda sensor fitted from a non-dealer source. To be honest after the non-origonal temp sensor problem experienced by one of our members I would only buy origonal sensors in future. They may cost more but at least you know its the right job. Unless you find out the manufacturer and buy the same elsewhere of course!

While we're on this, why do the damn things fail so often???

Had four on my twinny and one after owning the V6 for only two weeks. Unless its my driving style there is something very wrong here.

I have two theories:

1-my Alfa's only just get through the emissions test, perhaps this means the exhaust gases are too rich, killing the sensor.

2-The position of the sensor is allowing it to get too hot or suffer from ravages of the road.

Are the FIAT sensor place the same??

Any other theories?

My probe cost about £70 inc. VAT from the main dealer. £120 sounds a bit steep.
