I personally am not a fan of Kirkhill.

I went in last year when I started getting a knocking sound. They couldn't diagnose it. In the end it was CP garage who told me a couple of weeks later my driveshaft was damaged.

I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and dropped my car in for an MOT a few weeks ago as they are walking distance from work. The car came back with a few things but one of them was that the fog light indicator bulb wasn't illuminating. When I checked it, it was lighting up but quite dim. I went back and had a chat with the guy, he said he realised it was lighting up but it wasnt bright enough.

He wouldn't budge on it even after I explained that the bulb in question was part of the instrument cluster circuit board.

I asked another garage a day or two later and the guy who owns the place said he would have passes it no problem as it was lighting up.

I for one will not be using them again, CP all the way for me. Bit of a trek these days but their service was excellent when fitting my Q2

Kirkhill Auto Services

For an Oil and oil filter change on my Alfa 159 2.2 JTS, kirkhill auto services in Dyce charged over £180.
Thought I'd just use them as been really busy so had not had time to do it myself. Only 10k into 20k interval so no other work done or required (I just like clean oil).
An absolute joke price for a simple oil change.
Won't be using them again. Not recommended.

I think the lesson here is that you need to check prices and ask questions.
If you can get to Cp then they are probably your best choice in the NE until we at least get a dealership with competent mechanics north of Edinburgh again. That may be a long time away.....

Kirkhill is local but isn't cheap and, like any non alfa specialist, may not quite come up to scratch but when something does go wrong you might not have the option of a 60 plus mile trip to Dundee. Kirkhill do at least have a trained alfa mechanic, (Craig).

Check the tech pages here and ask for advice, and get a quote if you can - from whoever you use. At least that way you'll at least be forewarned!!

Other than that we have little choice. Folks do tend to post when they've had good service elsewhere - so keep your eyes peeled.

No. This is incorrect. You billed 1.5 hours labour and insisted it was minimum charge for any work, despite it stating on your wall, 1 hour minimum charge. You also tried to bill me for screen wash despite the fact I had filled it brim the night before.

just to be clear, I am not Kirkhill. I have used them in the past but now used CP in Dundee.

Well I've just had my car in Kirkhill for some work done and I thought I'd let you all know how it went.

I needed a radiator changed and decided to get someone else to do it rather than messing about in my drive way and just becoming more and more frustrated, possibly breaking things, and generally getting worked up - as per usual self-repair!!

So gave this place a call to see if they could help. Yes they could and I've got to say I was well impressed with the service. Right from the start they had lots of time for me. Spend a long time chatting on the phone with a chap who worked out a "worst case scenario" quote for me for the job and spend a lot of time explaining why it would be the worst case scenario.

Car was dropped off and the work was done. It came in at a little under the worst case scenario quote and was done quick. 1 afternoon.

When I went to pick the car up I had another decent chat with them and they are all clearly alfa nuts. Felt good to be in their company! They also have a few scrap alfa's there and with some decent parts on them so I was shown these cars and spoke about any bits and pieces I may want.

They also advised me about something else that may need looking at on my car in the future and told me that if I needed any more work doing to give them a shout a few days before and they'd sort me out with a courtesy car. They only have a few of them but seem to really value their alfa fanatics.

Basically the work was done quick and to a high standard. Came in under cost. And I felt like I was part of the process through all their communication about what was going on and why.

Very impressed and will definitely use them again.
